My First Trip to Tybee Island

I have always dreamed of visiting Tybee Island ever since discovering it in the movie, The Last Song starring Miley and Liam. I actually happened to be in Hilton Head Island on vacation with my extended family when the movie came out in theaters 10 years ago. When I heard the news that one of my closest friends from college chose Tybee as the location of her Bachelorette I was so ecstatic! There’s nothing I love more than exploring new places - especially if it’s a beach town. :)

It’s about an 8 hour trek from Nashville before stopping, so we got in late Friday night. We ate at a place called A-J’s Dockside Tybee that night, which was right on the water.

Later that night, we stumbled upon a place called Huc-A-Poos, which had such an awesome vibe to it. We met a few locals from the island, visitors in from Chicago, etc! I highly suggest it if you haven’t been before. Not only do they have drinks, but they also serve killer pizza!

On Saturday, we all slept in after having such a late night, Jenny and I walked the beach, and later shot a lot of content. I swear I will never get over the beach, live oak trees, and palm trees! The scenery is to die for!!! We ended up grabbing an early dinner at a new place that was recommended to us the night before called Cockspur Grill. I ordered the market fish, which happened to be grouper and was on a bed of pasta. The other girls didn’t enjoy their meals very much, but I just happened to have lucked out I guess! We thought they might still be working out the kinks in the kitchen because our waitress was just the sweetest! Once we got back from dinner, we cuddled up and watched The Last Song. There actually happened to be a black cat with a collar that had came inside through the window (the windows didn’t have screens). I think we all got attached to him pretty quickly! We later took a Breezy (local cab company) to Rock House. I asked our driver if he knew anything about where the house was where the movie was filmed and he actually knew the address! When we got back to our Airbnb, there happened to be another cat that came inside. We had a running joke to see how many cats we could attract lol.

Sunday was a jam packed day! We got ready and headed to the house where the movie was filmed for pics. It turned out that the people we met the first night in town actually have family friends that own the house and they were at it and even invited us inside to check out the balcony. When I say my 14 year old self was in heaven - I mean it!! Later that night, we drove into Savannah for dinner and to go on a ghost tour. I’m not one to enjoy being spooked, but it was definitely neat learning a lot of history of the town.

Have you ever visited Tybee Island or Savannah before?  If so, what are some of your favorite things you did?
